01

Copyright

All maps, animations, graphics, derived datasets and texts published on this site and on Spatial Notebook accounts belong to Spatial Notebook and are protected under Turkish Law No. 5846.

Protection covers not only the image but the analytical method, the classification and threshold decisions, the colour and typographic system, the derived datasets, and the whole they form together.

The Spatial Notebook name, logo and on-image mark are protected under Industrial Property Law No. 6769; unauthorised use of the mark is pursued separately.

Raw data sources carry their own licences. Open source data does not make the work we build from it free to use.

02

Editorial and news use

News use requires a written licence. Our images are licensed to news organisations; attribution alone does not grant any right of use.

A licence request should state which image, which publication, which medium and which date. Once the scope is clear, the fee and the term are confirmed in writing.

Where a licence is granted: the Spatial Notebook mark and source line must remain intact, the graphic must not be redrawn or recoloured, and the credit "Source: Spatial Notebook" must appear visibly.

A licence covers a named publication, medium and period. Reuse in another outlet, in an archive, on a social media account or at a later date requires a separate licence.

03

Commercial use is licensed

Advertising, promotion, corporate presentations, annual reports, packaging, printed products for sale, paid training material and similar uses are commercial and require a written licence.

The fee depends on the field of use, the term, the territory and whether the licence is exclusive.

04

Derivative work and redrawing

Adding to our images, cropping them, changing the palette, removing our mark, or redrawing the map and publishing it are derivative uses and require permission.

Use in training artificial intelligence models, scraping and bulk downloading are expressly prohibited.

05

Unauthorised use

Where use without permission, or in breach of the permission granted, is identified, we reserve the right to claim three times the fee that would have been agreed, under Article 68 of Law No. 5846.

This covers use without attribution, use with the mark cropped out, and unlicensed commercial use. If our claim is not met, we pursue legal remedies.

06

Client work and confidentiality

Rights in client work are set by contract. Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the right to use the delivered image belongs to the client and the production method belongs to Spatial Notebook.

Data shared by a client is used only for that piece of work, is not shared with third parties, and is deleted on request once the work is complete. We sign non-disclosure agreements.

For clients whose data cannot leave the organisation, we work inside their own environment; in that case the output stays on their servers too.

Publishing a client as a reference requires their approval.

07

Accuracy and liability

Our maps are built on open data sources, and every image carries its source and date window. We are not liable for errors or omissions in the source data.

Our work does not replace official boundary, title, zoning or cadastral documents. It cannot be used on its own as the basis for investment, insurance or engineering decisions.
