The 15-minute drive areas of 29 branches merge into 561 km². That covers 8.17 million people, 57% of the city. Kadıköy and Ataşehir are fully covered; Şile and Çatalca are at zero.
Which line is genuinely fast, and what is that speed bought with?
M11 leads at 72.1 km/h because its stations sit 4.89 km apart on average. On M2 the gap is 1.31 km. Speed is paid for in access: M11 carries 29,622 passengers a day, M2 carries 396,994.
When a single section shuts, how much time does the corridor lose?
The closed section is 2 minutes 9 seconds on the timetable. For stations to the west, the trip to Mecidiyeköy grows by 18.5 minutes. The daily loss totals 41,505 hours. Backup lines exist, but none of them go there.
Starting from one point, how many businesses can you reach on foot?
The 15-minute walking area around the Erzurum Congress Building covers 3.3 km² and holds 22 cağ kebab houses, 12 of them within the first three minutes. The castle is 809 metres away but falls outside the area because of the climb.
Across two years of war, where and when did the destruction spread?
Of 196,106 damaged structures, 104,561 were recorded in the first three months. The largest single jump came in the 6 January 2024 round: 45,570 new structures. 63% are classed as destroyed.

If countries were drawn by refugees per 1,000 residents rather than by area, what would the map look like?
Lebanon sits at 123 per thousand. The gap between Lebanon and the United Kingdom is fifteenfold. The cartogram inverts the sense of scale the standard map gives you.
The question is not where it is hot, but who the heat falls on.
Summer surface temperature and the share of residents over 65 were combined at equal weight across 1,500 NUTS-3 regions. The most vulnerable regions are not the hottest ones.
If every province were drawn by population rather than by land area, what would the country look like?
All 81 provinces were resized; Istanbul grew thirtyfold. Mean area error is 0.8%. The population table was cross-checked against two independent sources.
What if Türkiye were drawn by civil registry rather than by residence?
The largest registry is Şanlıurfa's, at 3.21 million. 83% of Istanbul residents are registered in another province. Ardahan's ratio is 6.15 to one.
